The Chicago White Sox place Gavin Floyd on the D.L.
The White Sox have placed 30-year old righty starting pitcher Gavin Floyd on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained flexor muscle in his right elbow. Floyd has pitched in 5 games (all starts) for the Pale Hose so far this year and he is 0-4 with a 5.18 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP. Floyd will be replaced in the starting rotation by 25-year old lefty reliever Hector Santiago. Santiago has pitched in 7 games (0 starts) for the White Sox so far this year and he is 0-1 with a 2.51 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. Santiago is capable of doing a good job as a starter, but the Pale Hose will miss his power arm out of the pen.
UPDATE: (5/6/2013) - Gavin Floyd has underwent Tommy John surgery and he will miss the next 14-19 months.
