The Chicago White Sox claim Waldis Joaquin off waivers
The White Sox have claimed 23-year old righty reliever Waldis Joaquin off waivers from the Giants. Joaquin pitched in 4 games (0 starts) for the Giants last season and he was 0-0 with a 9.64 ERA and a 2.79 WHIP. He also pitched in 27 games (9 starts) in AAA+Rookie ball last season and he was 1-2 with 2 saves, a 4.43 ERA and a 1.77 WHIP. Joaquin has now pitched in 14 games (0 starts) in parts of two years in the majors and he is 0-0 with a 5.87 ERA and a 1.96 WHIP. Joaquin has a good arm so it doesn’t hurt to take a chance on him.
UPDATE: (11/29/2010) - Waldis Joaquin has rejected the White Sox’ waiver claim and thus he has become a free agent.
