Montero has played in 13 games for the Cubs so far this year and he is 10 for 48 (.208 avg, .649 OPS) with 7 runs scored, 1 homer and 6 RBIs. Even though Montero hasn’t started hitting yet, the Cubs are going to miss his bat while he’s gone. The Cubs have called up 28-year old righty swinging catcher Tim Federowicz to share time behind the plate with 39-year old righty swinging Dan Ross behind the plate until Montero returns to action. Ross has played in 8 games for the Cubs so far this year and he is 6 for 23 (.261 avg, .780 OPS) with 7 runs scored, 1 homer and 4 RBIs. Federowicz has played in 11 games in AAA-ball for the Cubs so far this year and he is 10 for 33 (.303 avg, .930 OPS) with 4 runs scored, 1 homer, 6 RBIs and 1 stolen base.
