He pitched in 6 games (0 starts) for the Blue Jays last year and he was 0-0 with a 5.00 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP. He also pitched in 31 games (12 starts) in AA+AAA-ball for the Mets and Blue Jays in which he was 6-3 with 3 saves, a 3.09 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. Carpenter has now pitched in 23 games (1 start) in his first five years in the majors and he is 1-1 with a 7.56 ERA and a 1.83 WHIP. Carpenter will get a shot to win a bullpen job with the Cubs next spring.
