The Chicago Cubs pick Hector Rondon in the Rule 5 Draft
The Chicago Cubs selected 24-year old righty starter Hector Rondon in the Rule 5 Draft from the Cleveland Indians. Rondon came into last season as the Indians’ #22 prospect according to Baseball America, but he missed most of last season as he was recovering from Tommy John Surgery. Rondon pitched in 4 games (2 starts) in AA+Rookie ball for the Indians last year and he was 0-0 with a 1.29 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP. Rondon has pitched in 105 games (101 starts) in his seven years in the minors and he is 33-33 with a 4.16 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. If Rondon is healthy, he could help the Cubs in 2013 and beyond.
