The Chicago Cubs sign outfielder Nate Schierholtz
The Cubs have signed 28-year old lefty swinging outfielder Nate Schierholtz to a 1-year, $2.25 million dollar deal. He played in 114 games for the Phillies and Giants last year in which he was 62 of 241 (.257 avg, .728 OPS) with 20 runs scored, 6 homers, 21 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. Schierholtz has now played in 540 games in his first 9 years in the majors and he is 344 of 1,275 (.270 avg, .727 OPS) with 150 runs scored, 24 homers, 123 RBIs and 20 stolen bases. Depending on what goes on with the Cubs the rest of this winter. Schierholtz could see the most P.T. of his major league career in 2013.
