The Chicago Cubs sign Scott Feldman
The Cubs have signed 29-year old righty starting pitcher Scott Feldman to a 1-year, $6 million dollar deal. Feldman pitched in 29 games (21 starts) for the Rangers last year and he was 6-11 with a 5.09 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. He has now pitched in 204 games (101 starts) in his first eight years in the majors and he is 39-44 with a 4.81 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP. I think the Cubs spent a little too much money on Feldman, but I think he will help them at the back end of the rotation in 2013. Getting out of Texas will likely be a good thing for Feldman.
